- Focus on Positive Thinking – Turn your negative thoughts into positive ones. Don’t send negative thoughts to yourself about your job.
- Ask for Help – Sometimes parents, friends, school volunteers and even your students can be a resource. You only need to ask and delegate.
- Accept that there are Things You Cannot Change – Each time something happens beyond your control, have the courage to change the things you can, accept the things you cannot change and the wisdom to understand the difference.
- Learn to Relax – Go for a run, do yoga or meditation. Relaxation and meditation can rejuvenate the body and spirit.
- Read or Watch Something Funny – We will need a good laugh. Natural endorphins released while laughing help bring relief from stress.
- Try Something Different – Routine in our daily lives can cause stress to build up. A new activity or hobby like gardening, it can help break the routine.
- Leave Your Teaching in School – Try not to bring your work home. Instead use that time with your loved ones.
- Get Plenty of Sleep – We all need a good night’s sleep. To be productive, we need at least 7 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to sudden cardiac death.
- Talk to Someone Positive – Find someone who has a positive influence in your life and spend time with that person. There are loads of free apps with inspirational quotes you can download.
- Celebrate What it Means to be a Teacher – Think why you became a teacher. The lives you can touch, motivate and change. The next Prime Minister could be your student.
