A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine has concluded that diabetes leads to rapid ageing of your mind—approximately five years faster than normal. This effect is exacerbated in patients who have poorly controlled diabetes. Diabetes can be controlled through medication, diet, and exercise. This means that if you want a healthy brain at 70, you need to evaluate your lifestyle at 50, or at an even younger age. It might seem simplistic to prescribe diet and exercise as a preventive measure for so many of the health conditions that we are facing today. But the fact is, the internal systems within our bodies are interlinked, and one part can easily affect another. The best way to ensure your overall health is to take care of our bodies as a whole. The study was based on more than 15,000 adults in the United States of America, from 1987 to 2013.
