A new Harvard study, based on approximately 100,000 people over 25 years, claims to have found a link between whole grains and longevity. Findings from the study showed that eating just 28g of whole grains a day reduces your risk of dying from heart disease by 9%. This also makes you 5% less likely to die than your counterparts who ate less whole grains. However, this does not affect the likelihood of deaths from cancer. Whole grain has long been known to have more nutrients, including vitamin E and magnesium. With the results of this study, there’s now yet another reason to substitute your daily bowl of white rice for brown rice.
