Does a healthy weight mean a healthy body? Is BMI all that counts? Although our weight is the easiest way to gauge our health, it is not the ultimate measure of how healthy we are. In fact, many people neglect their health because they are of a healthy weight. So although weight loss campaigns like the Health Promotion Board’s One Million kg Challenge are excellent at getting everyone to think about their weight and way of life, we must remember that health is not a number. It goes far beyond that. Take this week’s featured article on unexplained weight loss for instance: it’s not always a good thing. What’s more important is that we eat right, exercise regularly and rest well.
