14 people die from cancer every day. And that’s just in Singapore. That’s why cancer vaccines are important, and researchers race the clock every single day to develop and trial these vaccines. Their efforts may be paying off, as a vaccine trial conducted here in Singapore showed promising results on the four patients it was being tested on. The four patients are suffering from Stage 4 cancer, and the trial showed no side effects. The vaccine, developed by a biotech company from Virginia, is targeted at those with lung, breast, prostate, colon and ovarian cancer, all common cancers in Singapore. The vaccine helps to strengthen the immune system so that it can fight the cancer. This was the first time the vaccine was tested in humans and will have to undergo further trials.
