Did you know?
As urbanisation occurs diets high in processed foods, are becoming more popular. These diets are high in calories but have little or no nutritional benefits.
What are the impacts to your health?
We all know that consuming foods high in fat, salt and sugar and red meat are unhealthy, but do you know the actual negative impacts of consuming these high fat, low nutritional diets? Here are some of the ways these diets can affect your health:
- Increases your risk of infection – Foods that contain fructose and palmitic acid which are commonly found in candy bars throws off the way your body responds to an infection.
- Changes the bacteria in your gut – Eating processed foods can cause the good bacteria in your gut to be pushed out and encourage bad bacteria. This can negatively impact your overall health.
- Increases risk of obesity and diabetes – Obesity predisposes you to disease and health issues such as joint conditions, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
- Increases risk of cancer – Recent studies have linked Western diets with increased risks of colon and prostate cancer.
